Honeypot

Uses https://www.projecthoneypot.org/ to prevent spam. I haven't used it, but it comes pretty highly recommended by others. Use http:BL with Honeypot and possibly Mollom for ultimate spam protection.

Also works for Drupal 8. Uses a hidden field that normal users wouldn't fill in but spam bots do. Also prevents submissions where the form was filled out impossibly quick.

Here's a link to a good article explaining it's use: http://running-on-drupal8.co.uk/blog/honeypot-fight-drupal8-spam

And here's a quote from Mediacurrent, "Spambot detection without all the hassle of user captchas. I imagine bots can figure a way around this but so far this has been very effective on the sites I have used it on. It uses a simple timestamp check essentially to figure out if a person or a machine is filling out a form. I highly recommend." http://www.mediacurrent.com/blog/top-drupal-7-modules-winter-2014-edition
