Mediaelement.js is a cross-platform HTML5 / Javascript / CSS video embedding method which has Flash and Silverlight fallback. It is included in Wordpress, from what I hear. It has been in devlopment for quite a while. The documentation could be a little better though and it's hard to find a good tutorial on using the API. Here's the basic steps:

If hosting on Acquia or Pantheon, I don't use this module because I can get backups from their dashboards. But sometimes, you don't have all the control you wish you did, and this module comes in handy... Easily create db dumps that automatically exclude cache contents. You can setup a regular backup schedule. It also has the ability to restore from backups, but I haven't used that functionality in years.

It's been awhile since I've used it. It provides a location field. From what I remember, it's a little buggy. This module redirects to a user login when a user hits a page they do not have access to.

Amazing module that integrates with both the db and solr (it also supports other backends but some contrib modules don't.)

The media module allows changing allowed file types that can be loaded when using fields but not at /file/add. So, here's how I got around that:

"Pathologic is an input filter which can correct paths in links and images in your Drupal content in situations which would otherwise cause them to “break;” for example, if the URL of the site changes, or the content was moved to a different server.
